History
San Da, also known as Sanshou, is a modern Chinese martial art that originated in the 1920s. Initially developed by the Chinese military, it was designed to create a practical and effective combat system by integrating traditional Chinese martial arts with contemporary fighting techniques. Over time, San Da evolved into a popular sport and self-defense method, combining elements from various disciplines to form a comprehensive fighting style.
Focus
San Da emphasises a blend of striking and grappling techniques, drawing from traditional Kung Fu, Qin Na (joint locks), and Shuai Jiao (Chinese wrestling). Practitioners are trained in punches, kicks, throws, sweeps, and takedowns, aiming for efficiency and precision in execution. The art focuses on real-world applicability, teaching students to adapt to various combat scenarios with fluidity and control.

Advantages
Training in San Da offers numerous benefits, including enhanced physical fitness, improved reflexes, and increased situational awareness. Its comprehensive approach to combat—encompassing both striking and grappling—makes it an effective self-defense system. Additionally, San Da’s emphasis on adaptability and practical application equips practitioners with the skills to handle diverse combat situations, making it a valuable discipline for those interested in martial arts and self-defense.
